why does everyone hate referees?
someone has to do the job, don't they?
there maybe abit of difference in opinon over rulings or laws as they are called, but before you abuse a referees maybe take some time do actually learn the rulings your self.

Exactly. People bagging Referees is one of my pet hates. I can't stand people doing it. If it wasn't for the Ref's there would be no game. I referee soccer, thats mainly why I feel so strongly about it.

I dont hate referees. As a matter of fact im trying to do a refereeing course to become one, I think it might be that sometimes they can change the whole game through a call and that will upset the people of the team that was disadvantaged by the call.

I'd go as far to say there are alot of supporters that do hate Refs. The call that all referees are biased is what really gets me. I can't stand people saying that.

hmm... i dont think i have seen a biased ref. I might have seen a couple of calls that were 50-50 go to say the broncos coz he is a queenslander, but i dont think they were biased, because they generally go both ways.

Yeah - if a Ref was biased you'd know it. Believe me, it'd be bleeding obvious. As a ref, ya go out there not caring either way who's gonna win.
Hopefully this attitude can be maintained when the Titans enter the comp.

I dont hate refs. I hate refs that want to be a major part of the game, or want to "star" like the players. The best refs are not even noticed.
People don't hate refs. but when you support a team and their is a not so good decision made then we blame them. Players get blamed for their mistakes so why not the Refs
i believe refs mistakes are part or what makes sport so great. Refs errors are all part of the game and it is how you deal with them that is the ture test of character.

what a nice way to look at it ;) i can think of other ways refs calls are a part of sport, but they are all bad, and my mother said if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all.
With the speed and complexity of the game at times it just too hard to see everything and being human, yes these guys are human too, they do make mistakes.
I used to love watching Gordy Tallis and Bill Harragan go at it, it didnt matter who was right or who was wrong it was great entertainment.
The video ref is essential but if it was left to him to make all the calls our game would go on forever, you have to have the human element in there.
Love them or hate them you need them.
Agreed but with all the technology they need to make less mistakes
I play cricket and it is drummed in through coaching that the team that deals with errors better will generally come out on top. It is amazing how many times teams have self destructed because they have been to concerned about the last dodgy decision. that goes for all sports.

i ref league in the newcastle competetion, i love sport in general but mainly league.
if a player/team do something wrong the ref still gets the blame for it, fair enough they are passoniate bout there team but some spectators are just stupid.
even at kids games, u have parents goin off there brain mainly the mothers and the kids are like 7 and 8 and they don't play competetion till there like 10 in most districts.
refereeing is a good way of keeping fit or learning new aspects of the game, im 20 and have been refing for 6 years now and haven't looked back.

I hate Referrees.
I just cant help it.
Game would be better without winging halfbacks and refferees :D
They remind me of shopping center security guards, who also never really had the talennt to become the real thing, so they abuse the power they have been given.

He has a point, but the Referees doesnt plant the ball over the line.
Probably the only time Gould said anything resembling sense. There is no way Barrett would have heard the held call.

i have a dislike for some refs. Because they constently get rulings wrong. Yes they are only humans...but humans learn from their mistakes and make themselves better. But some refs like steve clark and shayne hayne are hopeless!
the refs wouldnt be hated so much if they just did their job better.
I must say one ref I do have a strong dislike for is Clark. He just out and out ruins games by blowing the pea out of his whistle!

Im on and off with hating them all the time :p
I hate them when they make bad decisions, and are just plain stupid (mostly Clarke and Hayne) ... but then I think without them we don't have much of a game, so then I think their alright.

I used to Referee junior football here on the gold coast for many years. If anyone thinks that the guys in the NRL are under pressure, Try refereing an under 10 - under 17 grand final with the parents on the sideline.
Give the refs a break, They do an awsome job week in and week out, And very rarely do they get a thanks.
Remember you cant start a game of footy without a ref!

noone is calling for the refs to be dropped and kicked out of the game.
Some refs do an awesome job week in week out. Its their job to get things write. Just like any job....if you do something bad or wrong then you are punished or criticised
ie:
a cop shoots an innocent person- you dont just say oops made a mistake move on.
Its the refs job to ref the game as they see it if they make good calls they stay in 1st grade ....if they make a mistake then they are punished or criticised . Just like every single job in the world. And the refs have it easy compared to alot of other jobs.

i think archer, clark and russell smith are hopeless, archer was always getting dropped last season, they must b hard up in the ranks this year for refs to give him a final appointment

tim nader is a minister if i remember correctly, i cant remember what steve clarke is but he is from manly.

Personally I think the reason most people (not me though) hate ref's is because although ref's sometimes lose games for teams, by the same token they win it for the other. But the winning team never credits the ref for the win. So people blame the ref's when they lose and forget when they help them win.
Personally I take my hat off to them for doing great job 9 times out of 10 in a job with thousands of people scrutinising their every decision.
Hate refs because they have complete control of a footy game,1 man to 26 players.Doesnt quite seem right does it.Should be one ref controlling the game and touch judges on both sides of the feild of the 10m lines and tryline umpires.Oh what the hell lets just change our rules allowing players to pass the ball forward and bounce the ball every 10-15 meteres and allow drop goals to be worth 6 points.What you all think?

Brisbane don't do it any more than other teams.
But I've never hated refs because they've lost us a game, because they've never done that, refs dont lose games for teams, they could make a few bad calls, but its up to the Team to turn the game around, play well etc etc

i know brisbane dont, just need some1 to point the finger at and they r the titans nearest rivals now, and didnt want too many people saying it was my sharkies, coz our halfwit of a halfback is one of the worst
