Qld Fullback?

i believe lockyer should be named at full back. defending at fullback but coming into the line in attack, providing qld with three great playmakers.

I voted for other as I think a roughie - Inglis - is in with a shot. If I was choosing the team I would have Lockyer there in the blink of an eye, with Thurston at 6.

Bowen I believe will be left on the bench and used when the big NSW forwards are tiring.

However I think the selectors will go with Inglis, providing he performs over the next few weeks for Melbourne. Schicofske and Wesser are both in with a chance but would need blinders week in week out in teams that may struggle over the coming weeks.

Well Slater won't be fullback thats' for sure (as he is suspended) i would like lockyer in the no1 and Thurston in the no6 but as i said in another post i can't see them moving Locky from 5/8 and have Bowen on the bench, but also i like the looks of Milton Thaiday from Newcastle, he is putting his hand up : :guit:

i believe inglis will be either on the wing or in the centres as sing has retired from rep footy, williams is out injured, hannay has been playin reserve grade, tonga has done nothing since coming back from injury, berrigan has done nothing at all and slater possibly wont be playing.

As said on NRL on FOX last night, Slater will miss the first game and will only have one round to impress the selectors for game 2. If needed, he'll realistically only be available for the 3rd game in Melbourne.

Fullback will/should be Bowen; if he is unavailable then we will probably see Shifcofske or Wesser get a call up. Slater will get selected (after suspension & depending on form of the Queensland side) at wing.

Milton Thaiday is a contender for a spot in the 18 man squad and we will know alot more about him this weekend against Barrett who will put up towering bombs to the Knight flyer. I have said before, Thaiday is suspect under the bomb and I am surprised he is not tested more often by opponents in 2006.

i think they should use either thaiday or bowen off the bench, and have the other on the wing. both would be fantastic strike weapons. possible alternate them each half.

Schifcofske is easily the safest and best defensive fullback out of that lot, unfortunetly for him there seems to be more emphasis on picking a fullback who will play like a 2nd 5/8 and create attacking opportunities. Schifcofske is also a great goal kicker, something QLD didn't have last year...

Im happy with etheir schifcofske or Bowen. I dont like the idea of moving lockyer back there, and i dont think Wesser has been in the type of form he was a few years ago.

I doubt Inglis will get selected...but next year he will be in the running for sure.

I think they should pick Clinton Schifcofske at fullback. He is one the safest and most reliable in that position, and his goal kicking will also come in very handy for Qld. :thumbsup:

They will probably have Matt Bowen on the bench again, being injected into the game when the forwards are tiring.

Here is a BLUES fans choice , if you would like the Blues to continue their recent dominance pick Hunt at fullback he is without a doubt the most over rated fullback in the NRL you would be better off picking Carl Webb at no1.
If QLD want to win they need to make some huge changes which must include the fullback being Bowen the half Prince & 5/8 Thurston where you put Locky that is the question ?

I hope that the guys performing in both states get the starts they deserve.

i agree with pete. thurston and prince are the best qld halves easily, lockyer is a very deserving player to be picked in the squad but is pretty far off the pace as far as form goes.
