Who do you think will prove to be the best buy of 2006? and why?
*please note..i only had 10 choices to choose from..so i couldnt fit all signings so i tried to pick some of the biggest signings...if you think someone else is and that player is not on the list please post who it is anyway.*

Ben Ross, even if we did pay overs for him:rolleyes:
I will get back to you on this one super cronk....
Off the top of my head, one of either Ryan O'Hara, Keith Galloway or Jamal Lolesi for the Tigers will come into contention. These signings perhaps lose a bit of shine given they are going to the 2005 premieres :)
Lolesi in particular really adds to the Tigers backline, IMO, he adds more to the backline than Shane Elford who departs.
From the list, Pee-Wee Moke is a great signing for the Sharks and the pick up of Braith Anasta for the Roosters already improves the backline. The loss of Cayless (I do not note Ricketson as he is replaced with the better player in Harrison) is going to be a huge void to fill up front which may counter weight the positive of Anasta's signature.

I personally thinbk Ash Harrison will be a surprise.

Ashley Harrison for sure

Michael Crocker, he wasnt given much room to breathe at the roosters, so perhaps he might get a chance to really make an impact at the storm
I was thinking Crocker as well. Just depends how Bellamy handles him. Kidwell gave some troubles - I hope that isnt an indication of the way he will play.

That will come back to bite you DeeGan.
In all honesty he was one of the sharks absolute WORST this year. I was so happy when I heard the Tigers took him off our hands. He's big, but hes slow. Other front rowers will have their eyes lighting up when they see him heading for them.
Our last game of the season Galloway started at Prop and only made 8 tackles for the match. 8!!!. I seriously doubt he will challange many of the tigers Front Rowers for a spot in First Grade next year.
Pee Wee Moke is a good signing for us, or so I'v heard from a few of the Shire boys, but being on the coast I never get a chance to watch Flegg, so Im not getting too excited just yet.
How old is Galloway - isnt he onle 19 or something.Plenty of time there...

true, but people talk about overs. The tigers paid him 650 000 for 3 years. Big things were expected of him but he failed to deliver. Will be interesting to see how he develops under Sheens though.
650000!!
Geex - wouldnt think he is worth that!

Exactly.
It was early in the season though, and Sheens was thinking he needed some size for next year. Even Sheensy underestimated his own team.
I went for Ash Harrison based on the fact the Roosters need a solid Ball playing Lock Forward. Harrison will fit in well. Not bad on defense either!

Good points made and again, he was one of three signings I named.
Why did I mention Galloway? The same reason I mentioned Todd Payten a few seasons back, Tim Sheens is as good as any in developing players and Galloway for all his flaws (at what 19-20? Give him a break) does have size and an upside in potential. Sure, Sheens signed him to add size to a smallish pack, though give Sheens some respect here, he ain't signing any ol' players for the simple fact he has some size about him. If it were that simple, he could of signed any half decent prop running around in the NRL or Super League competition.
Galloway is a young prop that can be developed into a very fine one under Tigers coaching staff hence the reason he could be a buy of the year though I feel he is seen as a 'project' for Sheens and Simmons.
Will he start in 2006? I don't think so though he should be a member of the 17 man squad given the price outlayed. O'Hara will start with Skandalis IMO with Laffranchi moving to the back row covering O'Neil who departs.

Peewee Moke. I saw him playing in the Arrive Alive cup (last year?) and he was pretty good.
ETA- Hopefully Raper will give him some game time.

From the list of options I think Ashley Harrison is the stand-out by a country mile. He just has that 'X factor' about him when I watch him play and probably the best buy the Roosters have made in a while...
I wanted to say Michael Crocker but I'm wondering if he'll stay on the field w/out suspension long enough to do the damage we want him to do...
