On the Sports show here in the UK the other day, an announcement was made that Fans will get a say in the decision when a try is sent to the video ref. I think it worked out as the video ref has a 25% say and the other 75% is voted on by fans at home watching the game by going interactive and voting yes or no. I think this might be in relation to the challenge cup final but im not 100% certain on that as i cant find confirmation anywhere.

Its being done to get fans involved in the action but surely it is open to match fixing? If a small team gets to the final against one of the main boys then they will not only be up against them but their fans at home too. I think this is a bad move by the RFL.

Wow, that's a horrible idea.
You'll get people doing it honestly, but the majority will just do whatever call helps their team, or causes detriment to one they don't like.

Are you serious!? Thats the worst idea I've EVER heard. If you want the fans involved, push memberships or half the price of admission to a game, don't give them the majority vote on try/no try decisions.

I'd probably vote honestly in most games, unless I had money on a 1-12 margin or something, and the try could blow that. Or it was first try scored and not the bloke I was riding to get first try. And definitely every time my team crossed the line I'd go TRY, and the opposition would get NO TRY.

Can you find us a link or some proof of this?

Find it hard to believe a professional organisation would put something like this in place.

If that was the case On Monday Night we would have won 54-12!

This idea is worse then the one in 01 ( I think ) where you could put one foot over the dead ball line and knock the ball over it for a 20metre restart.

Ive searched all over the internet for a link to a story about this but i cant find one. It was said on our live show here so it hasnt been repeated. Maybe a story will come out about it closer to the Final.

It won't happen in my opinion.

It was said in the afternoon though.

I think it was an April Fool's Day joke - there is simply no way they could implement it. Phone line would't work - would have to wait till next week for a confirmation of the final score opf a match after votes had been tallied. And the internet would discriminate against those who can't afford the latest super-speed broadband.

Thinking about it, the speed the votes would have to be cast and counted in relation to a live match would surely render the idea unusable. It is starting to seem like an april fools joke but for some i reason i thought i had heard it the day before and it was definitely in the afternoon.
